Burritos, pinball, & big hair - What's next for the owners of New Wave Burrito?

A bag of what doesn’t typically go together, New Wave Burrito unites in matrimony.

The Preston Highway burrito joint truly created burrito sized waves in the last few years with their combination of 80s themes, pinball, speedy delivery, and incredibly unique burritos. What started as a late night burrito delivery concept quickly turned to an official establishment at the old Grind Burger at 3311 Preston Highway in 2014. Being located in an area not necessarily known for its food-scene, New Wave has thrived regardless, and the owners are now venturing over to Shelby Park.

This Shelby Street shotgun has a small red brick facade and sports just over 1,200sqft for the new brick and mortar called Toasty’s Tavern. They’ll be joining the neighborhood at what seems to be prime-time to do so. Logan St Market, Trouble Bar, and Potder’s Ping Pong Emporium at Red Top all sit inside Shelby Park’s lines and are surely welcoming more food options (and foot traffic) to join them in the resurgence of the neighborhood.

New Wave owners Nate Sturdevant and Matt Philip are joined by Aaron Chadwell (local DJ at WFPK) to open Toasty’s Tavern. There will be more to come on Toasty’s, but for now, check out New Wave in Prestonia if you haven’t already. It’s a delicious Louisville secret.

Check out the raving reviews of New Wave Burritos on their Yelp page - people love having burritos delivered. We’re pretty confident that the new Shelby Park venture at 1258 S. Shelby Street won’t be the last for the new group calling themselves “The Chimney Boys”.
