Local Business forced to close, owes $700k in KY Taxes

Local news outlets are reporting that Cellar Door Chocolates has been shut down due to a lawsuit over a large amount of taxes owed to the Kentucky Department of Revenue.

The lawsuit filed was by the revenue department against Cellar Door to pay back more than $700,000 in state taxes. Yesterday, the doors on all three locations were locked up by the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office.

A graduate of U of L, Erika Chavez-Graziano is the owner of Cellar Door Chocolates. They sponsor many events and organizations in the city, along with larger partnerships with events such as the Emmy’s in Los Angeles back in 2015. Cellar Door wholesales their products throughout the city in coffee shops, boutiques, and restaurants.

The dagger for the chocolate company came one day before Valentine’s Day, as doors were officially closed Feb. 13.
