Eiderdown, the long-time Germantown staple for nearly a decade, announced on Sunday that it would radically change its business model going forward.

An announcement on Facebook by co-owner Heather Burks thanked its loyal customers, but said, “Moving on, the face of Eiderdown will look quite a bit different. We will not be opening as a full-service restaurant more than likely ever again.”

Instead, Burks said, the restaurant will transition into online ordering two or three days per week, along with catering services and turning the restaurant into an event space for both private events and Eiderdown special events.

In addition, the menu will be revamped but will include a few Eiderdown staples – including pretzels and beer cheese – with new features being added. The plan, according to Burks’ announcement, is for online ordering with service to begin soon.

“It’s been a weird and tough decision but I feel it’s the best for us at the moment and into the future,” Burks stated. “Being open these years has been a wild, fun, exciting, emotional ride. I love this community and the friends I’ve made here.”

Eiderdown’s menu is now online and ready for ordering. Menu items include the aforementioned pretzel with beer cheese, house bratwurst, smoked jerk pork sandwich, chicken pineapple sausage and more.

Word is, pretzels and beer cheese will stick on the menu.
