It was 30 years ago that Mark Langley opened the beloved Cliftons Pizza at 2230 Frankfort Ave. Langley abruptly closed the restaurant in late 2018, but the location is about to get a new food concept in the Chicago-themed Jake and Elwood’s.

At the Italian Table, the unique little Italian restaurant in Clifton, announced earlier this month that it will close its doors in April after five years in business.

Most Louisvillians are familiar with the Silver Dollar, the bourbon-bar-meets-honky-tonk in Clifton that used to be a fire station. But how much do most of us really know about the building’s history? Not a lot.

As a Clifton restaurant mainstay since 1992, this Mediterranean joint deserves more attention than it gets.
